Public Information – Road Closure – 5499 Northeast 14th Street, Des Moines
April 6 2022
Last night, an independent contractor hired by Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) came into contact with a transmission water main near 5499 N.E. 14th Street, Des Moines, which resulted in damage to the water main. In order to make repairs, the Iowa Department of Transportation is coordinating with DMWW on an emergency closure of U.S. 69 from NE 54th Avenue to NE 66th Avenue south of Ankeny. The closure is expected to be in place for up to a week. U.S. 69 traffic is being detoured using local roads.
Parts of unincorporated Polk County may experience lower pressures than normal while repairs are being made. Questions may be directed to DMWW Chief Operating Office Kyle Danley by calling the DMWW Customer Service Desk at 515-283-8700.
