This week in 80’s history!

Posted on September 30, 2023

Hoping in the way back machine to see what this week looked like in the 1980’s! It was on this week in:

1982 – Cheers Premiered on NBC. Running for 11 seasons, 275 episodes and winning 4 Emmy’s despite such low season 1 ratings that the show nearly was canceled.

1983 – “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler Became the #1 Song in America. Holding onto the top spot for the entire month of October.

1985 – MacGyver Premiered on ABC, giving us 7 seasons, 139 episodes and 2 movies! And teaching us what we can do with a rubber band, a piece of gum and a paperclip!

1987 – “Mony Mony” by Billy Idol was released as a single. It wouldn’t take long for Mony Mony to climb the charts, claiming the #1 spot in November of 87.
