This Week in 80’s History!

Posted on July 30, 2022

Time to take a look back at this week in 80’s history!

It was this week in:

1981 – The Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana was viewed by over 700 million people!

1982 – Jerry “The King” Lawler slapped Andy Kaufman on Late Night with David Letterman. The shocking scene would be a precursor of things to come as one of the first times the lines between fiction and reality were blurred as a pro wrestling angle became mainstream media.

1983 – National Lampoon’s Vacation premiered in theaters! One of my favorite 80’s comedies, it would go on to gross $61.4 Million at the box office that year and the reason “Holiday Road” by Lindsey Buckingham finds it’s way onto every road trip playlist I make.

1986 – A Current Affair premiered in syndication and the world was introduced to Maury Povich and tv “news” changed forever.
